We have attended a training session of FC Bayern Munichs preparation phase at the Aspire Zone at Doha/Qatar and the following will present the individual finishing exercise of Arjen Robben (AR) after the official training.
The individual session was about 15 minutes in length in which the Dutch national player received the ball from FCB assistant coach Peter Hermann and finished on an empty goal.
In the first exercise, AR receives the ball in his typical playing position (right wing) from a player closer to the middle of the pitch. With his first touch he drives towards the first player, fakes a move, passes the dummy on the inside and finished either a) into the lower right corner into a smaller goal or b) curves the ball around a second “center-back” dummy into the (upper) left corner of the goal. He repeated this exercise for about 8-10 times, using option a) and b) about 4-5 times.
In order to get a better picture, we have provided the following picture of the first exercise and a legend how to read it.
For the second exercise he only used one “center-back” dummy. Apparently, he restricted himself with the number of touches as well. Whilst receiving the ball/with the first touch he created some space between the "center-back to be able to finish with the second touch. Options for a goal were again a) the smaller goal inside the normal goal in the lower right corner and b) the (upper) left corner.
And here is also a video.
